NGI Annual Report – 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

2022 was an enormously important year for us! Our pilot project providing in person, advanced teacher training to educators in rural communities of poverty where there is an unmet skills training need was successfully executed. We validated our methodology, assessed the needs of the targeted community and our teacher training program.

As we continue to move forward in 2022, we will evaluate and refine our methodological approach, follow up with the teachers and schools we touched, and design our 2023 plan to train more teachers from additional schools.

While we may have the vision and the expertise to deliver the training, our Donors are the key to supporting this important work actually being delivered!

WHAT'S NEXT?

We have critical work to do in 2023, including:

01.

Follow up with the pilot cohort of teachers and assess how the techniques have impacted their delivery of educational content;

02.

Identify teachers from the pilot cohort for additional training;

03.

Become leaders in creating a sustainable, local ecosystem to support the continued optimization of the learnings;

04.

Bring additional schools into the program, creating our next cohort of teachers;

05.

Continue our relationship with the district administration;

06.

Develop additional on-the-ground relationships with other NGOs and charitable organizations to fill in areas of need that are not core to the NGI mission – such as, provision of practical resources (school supplies, ancillary services such as sports, facilities, etc.).

PILOT PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Our focus was on the Monduli School District in the Arusha area of Tanzania.  This area is the home of the Masai, often with a teacher ratio of one teacher for every 50-100 students. Most children have to walk between 1 and up to 10 miles one way to reach their school.

Because of you – we have been able to do the following:

We evaluated 10 schools and tailored our strategies to fit the needs of teachers within the Monduli School District

Our three Educators, Mary Lutkewitte (co-founder and Vice President of NGI and Educational Expert), William Sprankles (NGI Board Member and Educational Expert), and Katie Klei (NGI Board Advisor and Educational Expert) delivered in person training to 34 teachers.

Our three Educators were also able to visit 3 schools to personally connect with the students and village elders, and provide real-time teacher feedback as the teachers implemented the new strategies.  The trainers were also able to assess  the availability of resources in the targeted schools.

Develop a meaningful and deep connection with the Monduli District Administrators who requested us to come back and expand our reach to more teachers and schools in 2023.

Our Educators returned with amazing stories and experiences from their time spent with the teachers and the schools. Please visit https://ngi.global to see pictures, videos and hear some of the amazing stories.

WITH THANKS

We know it is cliché, but cliches often derive from truth:

Our work is not possible without our donors.
